Dr. Maribel Lopez

Dr. Maribel Lopez is a Faculty member of Loyola University Chicago, in the school of Social Work, the Online BilingualSocial Work Masters program. She is an inspirational speaker, ordained minister, who was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She is a wife, mother, and proud grandmother. Lover of Jesus and life! Her purpose is to empower and help individuals heal from the lies plagued and imprinted by childhood sexual abuse and rape. She desires for people to be free of shame, guilt, condemnation, and self-destruction as these were the challenges she had to overcome. Dr. Lopez preaches, teaches, and ministers locally and internationally. Together with her husband founded Restored Ministries in Chicago. Their desire is to see lives restored through the power of love, the study of the Word of God, and biblical teaching.
Dr. Maribel Lopez earned an Ed. D, from National Louis University in Chicago. Doctoral studies; Latinas in Higher Education; in collaboration, designed a performance to show the findings of the research in a theatrical format. She holds a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago, a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Women’s Ministries certification from Seminario Biblico in Illinois. She has experience working with women, children, families, individuals, couples, and youth counseling. Dr. Lopez is engaged in community education on women empowerment, early childhood education, substance abuse and domestic violence. Dr. Lopez co-founded Latina Child Care Providers in Action, LCCPIA in 1998; a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster economic development in the Latina community.
Dr. Lopez’s mission is to share the Word of God both locally and internationally, advocate against sexual abuse and rape, and assist students to achieve their academic goals. She fosters Leadership in individuals: to empower and motivate people to act. She believes Integrity is an essential ingredient to live a successful life
